MIH Group is one of the world leading
providers of television platforms services, Internet services and
pay media and interactive technologies. The group's operations span

including OpenTV, Irdeto Access, and Mindport provide interactive,

to channel and platform operators worldwide. Open TV builds a complete
software and infrastructure platform that enables digital interactive
television and brings on-demand content to other digital communications
devices. OpenTV's software has been shipped with or installed in
more than 20 million digital set-top boxes worldwide and has been
selected by 48 digital cable, satellite and terrestrial communications
networks in over 50 countries.
MIH Beijing office in China was
established in October 1998. Since than MIH has been working closely
with SARFT (State Academy for Radio, Film and Television) and CCTV
(China Central Television). CBSat platform, the first Direct to
home (DTH) platform in China was built by MIH technology companies
for SARFT. The platform has been running successfully with MIH technologies
for three years and is considered to be one of the most advanced
DTH systems in the world.
The group's close cooperation with the CCTV culminated
in the Chinese president and his delegation visit to SA MIH headquarters
in April 2000, and in jointly launched CCTV 4 and CCTV 9 International
channels that distributed via MIH satellite operations to Europe,
Africa and East Asia.
MIH's customer track record in China is impressive
with the portfolio of over 15 customers, including Chinese major
network operators such as China Central Television, SARFT, Macao
Cable, Shanghai Cable, TVB Hong Kong etc.
MIH was awarded the project of digitalization
of the Shanghai Cable Network Interactive TV platform, managing
the entire installation of the project including both its own suite
of products as well as the products from the world-renowned third-party
vendors such as Nokia, Philips, nCUBE and Oracle.
Shanghai Cable Network is China's leading cable network
operator, with 3.5 million analogue subscribers, covering 99 percent
of urban Shanghai; it is the largest cable network in the world.
This project enabled MIH to use years of practical experience in
broadcast operations to offer SCN a unique cross-platform technology
solution to support its large subscriber base.
MIH has a 46.5% holding in QQ; with
more than half a billion daily messages being processed and one
million paying subscribers, QQ is the most pervasive instant-messaging
platform in China.
Irdeto Access, MIH conditional access company recently
completed the first successful integration of Chinese algorithm
with its CA system, as a result of close cooperation with SARFT
and government security agencies since 1999. That is the first successful
trial integration of foreign CA with Chinese algorithm. Irdeto was
chosen by SARFT to be official CA provider for the Chinese market,
due to its advanced and mature conditional access technology that
had been localized to better meet the needs of the Chinese market.
Its Beijing office is ISO 9001 certified and its smart cards circulating
in the Chinese market surpassed 300,000. Irdeto is also the first
Pay Media Company to be admitted to the China Anti-Counterfeiting
Coalition, the only organization in China committed to anti-piracy
across the variety of industries.
Supported by a network of high profile and influential
partners MIH have grown into a multinational provider of entertainment,
interactive and e-commerce services and employs over 6,000 people.
